Mistress America (2015)

A lonely college freshman's life is turned upside down by her impetuous, adventurous soon-to-be stepsister.

Director: Noah Baumbach

Storyline

Tracy, a lonely college freshman in New York, is rescued from her solitude by her soon-to-be stepsister Brooke, an adventurous gal about town who entangles her in alluringly mad schemes. Mistress America is a comedy about dream-chasing, score-settling, makeshift families, and cat-stealing.

Reviews

Taking place in New York City about now, "Mistress America" focuses on the life of Tracy who is a freshman in college. She aspires to be a writer—easy to tell because she's aloof, detached, alone, and looking for friends. Her mom's getting remarried so Tracy has an older sister-to-be in Brooke, one of those cinematic forces of nature like a young Katherine Hepburn, perhaps. Brooke takes Tracy into her life of late-night concert performances, high-output spinning, fashion, finance, clandestine apartments, absent lovers, and a nascent restaurant business. In many ways, this is a buddy movie as Tracy learns fierce independence from Brooke, who she greatly admires.

Like all buddy movies, Tracy's and Brooke's relationship has ups and downs, complicated by the literary understory. Then the whirlwind pace goes surreal as the New Yorkers head to Greenwich, Connecticut in search of—something. We think it's one thing but it's not. I guess Greenwich, seat of the uber wealthy in the US financial arena, is actually a surreal place.

This is an intensely witty movie with a very chewy script handled ably by the very smart cast. Many call "Mistress America" a comedy but funny is clearly not this movie's main goal. To call it a "screwball comedy" is to not properly describe its intellect. The movie is saying something about envying the lives of others, which most of us do to one extent or another. It's a thoughtful movie, and it will be uncomfortable for some to watch if you, like Tracy, are not centered within your own mind and body. And after all, who is?

We saw this movie thanks to the San Jose Camera Cinema Club.

I loved this movie. Idris and the little cute boy together are a perfect combination. Two excellent actors with great depth and character. its a thriller for sure. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. Also the boy in the movie is my little cousin in real life. he did a great job as well. All in all its a very good date movie. A must see and go watch it on Netflix and see it. It is also a good movie to see with your family, sisters, mother, brother. Its a nice drama thriller. It will keep you wondering what is going to happen next. And Idris is non stop eye candy. The movie was full of surprises. It is like nothing that you would expect. Its full of great actors a great script, great direction. I give it TEN stars all the way.

Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as "Tomorrowland."

Reviews

If you can overlook the shoddy sets, painted backdrops, lousy dubbing, and mediocre scriptwork, Tomorrowland is actually a halfway decent and somewhat watchable little flick. It starts out in rip roaring fashion, with our hero (genre veteran George Cloonney) watching an out of control man rip the bodice from a struggling girl from an alternate dimension called Tomorrowland. Incensed by this brutality and no doubt offended by the film's one and only true PG- 13 scene, she rams her fist through a brick wall and kills the man with mannikin magic!. Enter the film's male hero, a reclusive inventor and a relentlessly curious teen, who scolds his sister for opening the portal on this deadly and forbidden realm. The story then commences in earnest, as these clowns end up protecting a poor orphan girl who has a valuable future object that a nefarious criminal syndicate is desperate to obtain. Much mayhem ensues, though the film remains chaste and relatively bloodless after its promising beginning. Like most Disby cheapies, the film lifts musical cues from the studio's legendary past--most notably in this case, Disby Land itself ! Disby video also includes some rather unique features, including a copyright notice plastered across the opening 30 seconds of the feature, and a narrated copyright warning after the film is over!

To save her senior year from turning into a total disaster, Bianca must find the confidence to overthrow the school's ruthless label maker Madison and remind everyone that no matter what people look or act like, we are all someone's DUFF.

Reviews

he DUFF is quite entertaining and has a really nice poignant message. The film captures life, I mean the characters, and I'm mostly referring to Wesley (Robbie Amell) and Bianca (Mae Whitman), are realistic, humanized. I got a weird sense that I was watching people I knew and not a stereotypical film version of them. The movie has that documentary feel to it and it's due to how the leads portrayed their characters and how easy it is to relate to them.

The only real disappointment I have with the movie is that I thought it would be funnier. It's still a comedy but it's a little more serious than I expected. Watching the trailer I thought that I would laugh a hell of a lot more, specially when you look at the established comedic cast in it. Whitman and Amell do have good comedic timing and The DUFF is fairly funny but the quality of the jokes are not as high as I hopped they would be.

The story is intelligent, insightful, and kind of funny but it's still very predictable. The DUFF is on the edge of being great but it's not.

Reviews

I went to the cinema to see "Chappie", missed the showing, and ended up seeing this instead. This is a surprisingly effective thriller, and deserves to be making more waves than it is. Marketing it as a "Taken" clone was a mistake. Within the first ten minutes I could tell that this was a very different kind of movie indeed. It's closer in tone to the raw, sombre "Out Of The Furnace", which I also saw at the cinema this year, only Run All Night works much better. It admirably blends grittier, more realistic elements - you really felt like you were in cold, rainy, claustrophobic New York urban sprawl - with more stylish, fun elements, with some top notch action scenes and memorable shootouts.

Jimmy Conlon (Liam Neeson) used to be a fearsome Mob hit-man, to the point where the papers called him Jimmy the Gravedigger. Now, he's an alcoholic, washed up joke, who probably would have disappeared off the face of the earth if it were not for the sympathy and friendship of his old boss Shawn Maguire (Ed Harris). When a dispute between their sons turns deadly, battle lines are suddenly drawn. Knowing he is outnumbered and outgunned, this becomes Jimmy's quest to see if he can take a few old demons down with him tonight.

Liam Neeson is very watchable as Jimmy Conlon. I was expecting him to recycle his character from Taken, but the two could not be more different. He makes Conlon believable as a man two steps away from the gutter. Equally, I was expecting Ed Harris to recycle his steely, distanced Mafioso character from "A History Of Violence" but instead he makes Maguire into a charismatic, effortlessly practiced and conceited Mob boss who can genuinely make you believe he is a family man running a legitimate business for the good of the community. And if a few bodies have to end up in cement, no big deal.

Believability is one thing this movie gets right all the way through. Everything that everybody does would feel ridiculous in the hands of less skilled filmmakers, but the script takes a step back to think about things like motivation and avoids plot holes. Action movie clichés are kept to a minimum and everything feels fresh and inventive. The shootout in the apartment block was done especially well - with the camera virtually backed into the drywall, you really felt like you were there, dodging bullets with the characters. It's worth taking a moment to reflect on how far films have changed and evolved since fare like "Cop Land" (1995), which was also a Mob thriller set in New Jersey.

I think I liked Run All Night because it so deftly handled it composition as something between a slick parkour-like action movie, angsty retribution movie, and revenge thriller. Never did I think that the production had let anything slide, or that the big names were phoning it in. The background details were terrific. Apartments felt like real scummy low rent places, not just Hollywood sets. Scenes in bars felt like you could touch the sticky, beery wooden tables. Bad guys didn't wear pastel suits and stylish goatees - they were sweaty brooders in cheap leather jackets, and they felt very intimidating and very very real.

The one minor thing that lets this movie down is the editing. Editing, for my money, is the toughest job in filmmaking. When you've done it right, nobody notices you've done anything at all. When you do it wrong, scenes can feel choppy and disjointed, like they were clearly different takes. Especially in the family scenes, I just wanted to grab the guy and say "slow down. We don't need six cuts here in three seconds."

In summary, Run All Night was an unexpected surprise and well worth a viewing. I will be following the career of director Jaume Collet-Serra, who I think has at least one truly great movie in him.

Reviews

I have been looking forward to this movie for a while. I saw the trailer and was instantly gripped by it. I got to see it early at the Dallas Film Festival three months before it was actually released. The film was incredible. The dialog was amazing, If you enjoyed fast wit like Juno, then you'll have a blast with this one. It's a must see, and deals with cancer in such a touching way. The acting was amazing. Nick Offerman and Connie Britton were hilarious and touching. Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke, and RJ Cyler were also brilliant in every way. The director, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, did an amazing job here. Every scene had it's own feel to it that made the film feel unique.

It captures high school in a great way that I didn't expect. It shows cliques in a new light, and it gives a great representation of how the protagonist deals with it. The film changes tone with ease. With a gradual enough change that doesn't feel forced or awkward. It's an amazing movie.

Storyline

In a post-apocalyptic future, THE KID, a young solitary scavenger obsessed with comic books must face his fears and become a reluctant hero when he meets a mysterious girl named APPLE. Despite their efforts to keep to themselves, ZEUS, the sadistic and self-proclaimed leader of the Wasteland, plagues THE KID and APPLE. Armed with little more than blind faith and an ancient turbocharged weapon, THE KID learns of justice and friendship and embarks on an incredible journey to rid the Wasteland of evil and save the girl of his dreams.

Reviews

I have no difficulty believing that Turbo Kid won an Audience Award at the 2015 South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, and several awards or nominations at other film festivals. It's 95 minutes of outrageous gore and belly laughs. Yes, I meant that. Whoever had the fake blood concession undoubtedly made a hefty profit supplying dozens of gallons of the red stuff, and I laughed myself silly at the number of gruesome ways the expendable characters died. But it was all in fun - the mayhem and violence was not too over-the-top explicit (okay, there was the scene with the guy's guts being ripped out by a bicycle), and I had the feeling the actors were having fun with it.

Turbo Kid has a post-apocalyptic setting strongly reminiscent of Mad Max. The world as we know it has been devastated, and the water has become so polluted that safe drinking water has become a treasured commodity. The Kid (Munro Chambers) lives by himself and only goes into a nearby settlement to trade for water with the articles he finds by scavenging. One day he meets Apple (Laurence Leboeuf), a remarkably free-spirited girl, and they become scavenging buddies. When Apple is kidnapped, the Kid goes after her and stumbles across a device that gives him super powers. But even with super powers, he's up against formidable odds as he tries to rescue Apple. The final showdown against the baddies, led by the one-eyed Zeus (Michael Ironside), is truly one of filmdom's great gorefests.

Turbo Kid was no super-low-budget studio backlot knockoff. The production values were quite good, and the acting was first rate, especially young Laurence Leboeuf as Apple, who caught me completely off guard with a surprise revelation. The driving high energy soundtrack complemented the film perfectly.

It's a fun movie to watch, and I really hope there's a sequel.

I was provided the opportunity to prescreen the film.

Macbeth, a duke of Scotland, receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders his king and takes the throne for himself.

Reviews

Justin Kurzel's blistering, blood-sticky new screen version of Macbeth unseams the famous Shakespearean tragedy open from the nave to the chops, letting its insides spill out across the rock underfoot. Kurzel's chilling debut feature, the 2011 true-crime thriller Snowtown, suggested the then-37-year-old Australian filmmaker was a talent to watch. But this towering, consistently ingenious film establishes him as a director to cherish.

Built around a pair of cosmically powerful performances from Michael Fassbender as Macbeth and Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth, Kurzel's film, which has had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, retains the play's Scottish Middle Ages setting and some of Shakespeare's words.

But the pared-down adaptation by Jacob Koskoff, Michael Leslie and Todd Louiso feels jagged and spare – the bleached, modernist carcass of the original verse – while the sheer innovation of the staging lends a flesh-creeping freshness to every familiar toss and turn of Shakespeare's plot. Tonally, it is far closer to the fractured poetry of T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land than Game of Thrones, yet the battle sequences have a serious, blockbuster beauty and heft, with thunderous, slow-motion combat backlit by blood-red sun rays, mist and smoke.

A sexual melodrama about a boy and a girl and another girl. It's a love story, which celebrates sex in a joyous way.

Reviews

Contains some of the hottest sex scenes ever filmed, thanks to the combination of plausible courtship scenes, character development, and graphic (at least partially non-simulated) sex. Many of the sex scenes are beautiful to the point you become aware of the cinematography, though I did not feel aware of the acting at any point.

A lot of the melodrama could have been edited out without impacting the plot whatsoever, not to mention some parts that are downright abusive to the viewer with blinding flashing lights, and, I suspect, some cheap abuse of 3D effects (I saw it in 2D), but then again this movie probably couldn't exist without giving the director a ton of editorial freedom.

IMHO this is a must-see if you care at all about eroticism in film.

Chappie (2015)

In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. As powerful, destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind and order, they will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo and ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind.

Reviews

Don't let the critics who can't seem to get past comparing Chappie with other sci-fi titles put you off of going to see this film.

This story is about a lot more than just robot police officers it is a thought provoking social commentary on many modern day issues and what it is like to bring life into the modern world.

I very much enjoyed District 9 but I would even go as far to say I enjoyed Chappie much, much more.

There were so many aspects to this film that could have went wrong but have been nailed on the head by the director. The effect once again visually striking and a very well paced and intricate development of characters as well as interesting set design helps keep chappie fresh and not just another reboot of any other sci fi film as critics will have you believe.

I would also say I enjoyed this film much, much more than the likes of robo-cop.

Reviews

I'm not sure how to start this review so I'll just get right into it: This movie isn't good. It makes no sense. There is no room to get immersed in this world because there is no story to relate to. It's all just stuff happening; fluff. Beautiful, well made fluff mind you, but at its core this movie is a steaming hot mess.

Here's the plot from what I gathered: Mila Kunis is suddenly the majesty of the Earth and has to protect it from a bunch of rich douchebags that live in Jupiter's atmosphere who want to use it for harvesting grounds or something. It's a dumb plot, and every scene that tries to move the plot forward is a scene wasted. The only interesting parts of this movie are the visuals and Channing Tatum's character, but even he is given absolutely no character development. He's just a badass space agent, or something. I don't even remember.

The characters end up the same way they began - there was no journey to redemption or revelation for anyone. It was just do this, do that, stop this, go home, the end. And they try to include multiple stories, like Mila Kunis' relationship with her family (boooring); Caine (Tatum) and Stinger's (Sean Bean) history (wholly underdeveloped), the whole villain arc...

The villains in this movie are spoiled brats. Seriously. They're not scary, they're not intimidating, there was no point in the movie where I was like "oh man sh*t is about to go down"; there was just no intrigue. Their motives were all over the place. It's not worth trying to piece together every plot point they throw into the movie because it will just lead to confusion and disappointment, and eventually frustration when you realize how much potential was wasted in creating this massive universe. The lizards looked really cool. Why not have more of them? Oh we're just going to focus on the playboy brat now, okay.

I really wanted to care about this universe. It has a Star Wars vibe in parts, like the "royal" wedding scene and the space battles, but there were no good characters to experience this adventure with. You're just watching things happen with no consequences, or at least none you cared about.

The acting was fine in this movie. Channing Tatum and Sean Bean in particular gave great performances, and Eddie Redmayne as the primary antagonist was decent as well. Yeah, he's an Academy Award winner, and as much as I hate to say it I have not seen The Theory of Everything yet but I loved him in Les Mis so I was really hoping he would save this movie. Unfortunately the material he's given is absolute garbage, so in an effort to make the character stand out, Redmayne give him a weird, eerie, whisper voice that was akin to a hundred year old man trying to force words out from the back of his throat. But hey, I think it worked. The guy is completely unlikeable so might as well give him a unique trait to remember him by. Good on Mr. Redmayne because he succeeded. The only things I will remember about this movie are the cool visuals, the wasted potential, and his creepy voice.

Don't see this movie. Unless you want to see some really great CGI for a couple hours, which can be found in much better places by the way, you won't find anything worth salvaging from Jupiter Ascending. It was a nice effort but ultimately a swing and a miss.

Mr Wickers and his class go on one final school trip after they finish their GCSEs.

Reviews

Okay, so going into this film i had seen just two episodes of the series so wasn't that familiar with the characters. The show has made me laugh though so i knew that it was at least funny. British sitcoms being translated to the big screen can be very hit or miss, i was hoping it would be funny even with a loose plot like The Inbetweeners Movie or Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and it delivered.

Jack Whitehall returns as brilliant as ever as the bad influence teacher Alfie Wickers. Bad Education follows the British comedy trend of taking its characters on holiday, this time in the form of a mental school trip to Cornwall. As you can imagine, this leads to crazy antics. It sounds like more of the same, there is a good twist towards the end though. I don't want to ruin it as it wasn't in the trailers or anything and is actually unexpected. This twist got a bit silly towards the end, but the whole film is pretty silly so it isn't so silly that it completely takes you out of the film. I doubt this will get an international release, but if it does i don't think it is one that will appeal to an American audience. In an interview Jack Whitehall said that exact same thing, the humour is so British, and British at its finest. There are a lot of Jack Whitehall's balls though. I don't ever want to see his balls again. Although, this film features the single most intense scene of a man teabagging a swan EVER. I was genuinely scared for the guy.

As a fan of the show, i'm sure you will be delighted to see all the characters on the screen again. Actors from Matthew Horne to Harry Enfield reprise their roles and all of the class are here to. They all get moments to shine as well which i like to see in a film with so many characters. In the end, i haven't laughed harder at a film this year. The plot isn't anything complicated, we have seen this sort of humour before, but as a British person if you don't come out of this film feeling you have had even a little bit of a good time then i will be surprised. I advise anyone up for a good laugh to check out the Bad Education movie, it may be silly, but a film with an opening that is an ET spoof featuring Anne Frank deserves to be seen.

Reviews

The short summary line was "A pair of femme fatales wreak havoc on the life of a happily married man."

The film was literally just that... The guy who is very reluctant winds up having sex with 2 girls and they then pretty much torture him... That is all that happens, like... Literally there are no developments or advancements to the story or any twists, it really did disappoint me.

Keanu Reeves' acting is so unnatural that it is actually laughable, like... He just doesn't seem natural at all.

If you want a decent home invasion film, watch You're Next... It gives you the action and an alright story... This however, was just a huge disappointment.

I'm giving it a 3 based solely on production.

A climbing expedition on Mt. Everest is devastated by a severe snow storm.

Reviews

For the 99.999 percent of us who will never climb Mount Everest, the new 3D Imax drama Everest provides plenty of vividly illustrated reasons to rationalize leaving it off one's bucket list. However, there are quite a few good reasons to see this robust dramatization of a 1996 assault on the world's tallest mountain that went disastrously wrong, beginning with the eye-popping, you- are-there visual techniques that make you feel glad indeed that you're not actually up there at 29,029 feet, but also including multiple characters sufficiently humanized to create real concern for their fates, and an attention to realistic detail that gives the film texture. Universal should be able to add this one to its impressive list of 2015 box-office successes. This autumn seems to be the season for vertigo-inducing 3D Imax releases, what with this and the World Trade Center tightrope-walking drama The Walk in the offing. All the same, Everest doesn't go in for cheap shots or sensation for sensation's sake, remaining close to the men and women who have journeyed to the Himalayas for different reasons but for the same purpose: to get to the top of the world. With its perilous central premise and gallery of individuals some of whom are destined not to make it, you could say Everest is a disaster movie in the old Hollywood sense of the term, but it doesn't feel like one. And that's a good thing. Telling the same story as, but not officially based on, Jon Krakauer 's best-selling book Into Thin Air (perhaps because it was already officially adapted for a 1997 TV movie, Into Thin Air: Death on Everest ), the film hinges on the freakish conditions that led to the deaths of eight climbers on May 10, 1996. Krakauer is present as a character (played by House of Cards' Michael Kelly), there to write an article for Outside magazine. The fact that some engaging, friendly Aussies are front and center as the main tour organizers and guides may account for a good deal of the films immediate accessibility; they're the competent, reassuring type you'd feel good entrusting yourself to on such an expedition. Running Adventure Consultants is Rob Hall ( Jason Clarke), a seemingly all-around great guy, and he's helped out most importantly by logistics coordinator Helen ( Emily Watson ), and guide and close friend Guy (Clarke's fellow ex- Terminator Sam Worthington).

There's honestly not much more to say on this movie. It did exactly what it seems it set out to do- make people laugh and have them walk away with the warm fuzzies.

The characters have great chemistry on screen, especially Kevin Hart and Josh Gad. The plot is pretty easy to predict, but there are still a few surprises on how some points are executed. There are some great laugh-out-loud moments, even with a couple of cringe-worthy ones (was the view of what the dog chomped on really needed?).

All in all, I had a good time watching it. I kind of wish I had waited to see it in the $2 theater, but I'd watch it again if given the chance.

visceral drug trade thriller pulls no punches in its grim depiction of the cross-border traffic between Mexico and the States.

This time french-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve who gave the viewers a kidnap drama suspense hit international movie "prisoners". Now coming back to screen with a action crime flick.

Emily Blunt takes the role of Kate Macer, an FBI field agent plunged in the powerful world of a drugs cartel as well as she trying to make her way to get a better rank for herself. She delineates perfectly the emotional conflicts of a woman working with violence and corruption on a daily basis.

*picks from trailer* The opening sequence in which rows of rotting corpses are found in a home in Arizona belonging to the cartel sets the tone for the helter skelter ride to follow in which Villeneuve sustains the knife-edge tension without a blip.

Nobody is who they seem to be, least of all Josh Brolin who suggests that he may be a defence contractor although Kate and her partner (Daniel Kaluuya) believes he may be from the CIA.

Also emerging from the shadows is Benicio Del Toro as Alejandro, an enigmatic figure who is the sicario of the title - in other words a hit-man whom you never where he is going to turn up next or on whose side he will be.

Although the violence is wince-inducing it is never gratuitous in the context of this particular world, where human beings are completely dispensable.
it's basically a great action thriller movie. A must see

Fred and Mick, two old friends, are on vacation in an elegant hotel at the foot of the Alps. Fred, a composer and conductor, is now retired. Mick, a film director, is still working. But someone wants at all costs to hear him conduct again.

Paolo Sorrentino's latest movie, the director's return to Cannes after the worldwide success gained with the Best Foreign Movie Oscar (yet the Croisette didn't particularly liked the film which later on won at the Academy Award), could and should be appreciated by the Neapolitan director-screenwriter's admirers, for his usual subtlety of camera work and the and memorable lines, as well as by his detractors, for the unexpectedly solid and consistent story development, something that in the past The Great Beauty's director has seldom achieved. And indeed there is much more beauty in Youth than in Sorrentino's former hit, exactly for the savvy mix of images and narration, for the excellent compactness of the cinematic language and writing, regrettably missing in the calligraphic series of beautiful images that made up The Great Beauty. In an exclusive and secluded thermal hotel on the Swiss Alps gather, like elephants at a savanna watering hole at dusk, guests of every age and origin, each looking for something different but all joined by the lack of this "something". With the calm and lightness of a glider, the movie flies over Fred, a retired great musician and conductor searching his human dimension in addition to his musical one, and Mick, a famous director searching a last movie which could amazingly seal a career that, however glittering, started to show the unmistakable signs of a slow decline. The movie takes the viewer, with crafty and touching empathy, to the final results of these searches, harmonic for Fred, dystonic for Mick. Captivating in the title choice, identifying youth with the inner search and growth rather than the body biological age, Youth is structured in dwindling layers, strongly integrated and unified: a protagonist (a self-controlled and convincing Michael Caine as Fred), a co-protagonist (the dependable Hervey Keitel as Mick), two secondary characters (an emotionally involved Rachel Wiesz as Fred's daughter and a cautious and endearing Paul Dano as the Californian star), circled by a chorus of characters painted with few yet definite strokes, reminding of the Commedia dell'Arte: the football legend beyond Sunset Boulevard, the masseuse of few words, the Alpine guide, Miss Universe, the Queen representative, the 100% made in Hollywood movie star (an ironic and charismatic yet ineffective Jane Fonda), the mixed group of your screenwriters, the silent couple….. The risky strategy of mixing faked reality (the Queen, the real pop start, the football star) to real narration proved to pay off: most probably Youth shall not gather the prizes and success of The Great Beauty but surely represents a clear leap forward towards Paolo Sorrentino's full maturity as a director and a screenwriter.

I was captivated by the acting, as well as the cinematography and special effects contained on this great production. I'm glad to see that the filmmakers and actors are bringing this kind of messages to the world through art reminding us that love is the force that brings us all together and that's the path to follow as humanity. I loved Eduardo Verástegui's performance by showing Little Boy the importance of faith. It made me think about how we must have the strength to defend the truth even when some people don't see it. It also made me remember that if we have the courage to go the right way and follow our goals or dreams, based on good intentions, God will give us what we need to get trough difficulties. Not only is it a very entertaining movie with a deep emotional content, but it is also an example of kindness and compassion, great job on bringing all together. The film made me cry, laugh and feel identified at some point with the characters. It takes you on an exciting emotional roller coaster with a beautiful message at the end that will take your breath away.

I went in to see this film with zero knowledge and zero expectations - I don't even think I saw the trailer. I laughed the entire time!

The movie plays out as a parody of James Bond films and even pokes fun at the Jason Statham breakneck action type of movies, featuring Melissa McCarthy in one of her best roles yet. As far as I can remember, this is Melissa's first role in which she does not play the "gross, clumsy, fat chick" but instead portrays a fiercely intelligent, tough, 3 dimensional woman who ends up in ridiculous situations, and ends up being incredibly skilled at fighting off gangsters. Sure - it may be unrealistic, but it makes for a great, interesting comedy. Susan (Melissa's character) is a relatable middle- aged woman, who is feminine, takes good care of herself, longs for unattainable love, has a close girl friend who has her back, and works her ass off. You root for her, you laugh at her shockingly good insults and come-backs, and you understand her motives for her actions.

Some of the characters seem to be poking fun at their "stereotype" in other movies of their career. Jason Statham, like I mentioned before, is mostly cast in high-speed, intense action films - and in SPY, his character goes above and beyond this. Ford (Statham's character) believes himself to be so intense and invincible that all the other characters roll their eyes at him and basically tells him to "just calm the eff down". He ends up getting in the way and causing more problems than actually doing any good. A fact that I personally loved to see play out.

Give it a shot. I'm buying the DVD as soon as it comes out.

Good film, great acting from the two leads, what more can you ask for. It's not a great book to film adaptation but if you forget the book it's worth a watch. I've seen a lot of criticism on the political and historical accuracy, it's a film not a documentary you wouldn't say gladiator isn't good because it's not accurate it's not meant to be it's purely fiction with the exception of the fact it's based on a serial killer from the same country. Summing up it's a good watch for those who like thrillers and tom hardy. The film itself is probably a 7/10 but tom hardy and noomi rapice were so convincing as the leads that I upped it to a 10. I was disappointed we didn't see much of Gary oldman as he is also one of my favourite actors but the small part he played was played very well. Everyone played there part to make an exciting story with a rather weird ending but oh well it was worth the watch anyway. :)

Ted 2 lets talk about it! OK i saw this film 2 months ago at an early screening and unlike a few idiots on here i actually kept my mouth shut due to the embargo and quiet possibly getting sued if i let any info slip lol. Anyways i ENJOYED this movie a ton!!! Let's get one thing straight here, if you didn't like the 1st TED or you don't like anything Seth Mcfarlane related then STAY AWAY! This movie isn't for you and it won't change your mind about anything. I LOVED the first ted and i knew that this movie might be a weak sequel like most sequels are now in days...... and surprise, surprise it actually exceeded my expectations. Ted 2 is almost as good as the first! ALMOST! One of my concerns was the cast change, i hate when movies replace or change characters in sequels. SO i felt that Mila Kunis's absence was going to be very obvious and there would be a hole in this movie that the new lead Amanda Seyfried just could not fill. AND another surprise! Her character worked to PERFECTION!!! The chemistry that she had with Mark Wahlberg and Seth Mcfarlane was just amazing. I was like "there's no way she could be better than Mila" and BOOM she nailed it.

The story most of you may already know from the trailers, Ted gets married and then the State says Ted is property and not a person so the marriage is annulled and he basically loses everything. So the story worked, the first movie focused more on John and this one is more about ted. I had no real complaints with this film, there is a cameo with Liam Neeson which IMO was just pointless and not that funny.... There are some moments where they try too hard with the jokes or to be shocking but Besides a few nitpicks i had no complaints with this movie! It is laugh out loud funny, it has serious moments similar to the first and it's just a fun film! There are some returning characters and i won't spoil that. And ohh yeah the Comic Con scene in this film with Patrick Warburton and the running gag they have going on is SUPER HILARIOUS!!! I'm giving TED 2 an 8.5/10.

Every Thing Will Be Fine (2015)

Storyline

While driving aimlessly after a quarrel with his girlfriend, a writer accidentally runs over and kills a child. The accident and its aftermath deeply traumatizes him. Over the next 12 years, he struggles to make sense of what happened and continue on with life, but when he looks in the mirror, he sees a murderer.

Reviews

Everything Will Be Fine is a small intimate movie, but suffers from an average screenplay and you can almost feel Wenders trying to bring intellectual depth to the movie. Although the center ultimately is the grieve and guilt following the death of a child in a car accident and coming to grips with that, it touches many themes which leaves the viewer purposively confused about the center and where to root himself in this movie in the first place: Broken relationships and families, stalking and a writer offering almost everything for success and coping with his remorse.

The use of 3D in the movie is sometimes quite effective. For example, the first two scenes worked well, showing dust and then snow creating a haze in the image suggesting the troubled mind of Tomas. In addition, there are other clever movie techniques at work: turning the camera in directions where you would not expect it to go (turning the camera away from the action or showing a wider angle of the situation); also making effective use of time, hopping forward frequently so the viewer has to adopt his frame of reference. Although the cinematography is not bad, you start missing the collaborations with Robby Müller producing his best movies in the past.

Gainsbourg (illustrator) I think is one of the oddest actresses around as she doesn't (or maybe can't) act. Franco (writer) is consistently clever and restrained in the movie, although you see him struggling in the first scenes. The score of Desplat is very apt for the atmosphere of the movie.

I hope Wenders finally wins his deserved first Oscar, not for this but for the excellent Salt of the Earth documentary.

First of all I saw Warrior and it is great. I can see a lot of drama making people saying Hollywood is greater than Bollywood. But you know what, they have big budgets, developed technology and have discovered so much in Film Industry. Bollywood has nothing like that. So please think about it and stop comparing.

Coming to this film, I so think that this is a good effort by Karan Malhotra remaking Hollywood to show Bollywood "Gawar" fans (Hollywood Lovers Think So...).

>Akshay Kumar as David delivered best as 3rd film after Baby and Gabbar Is Back. He is doing awesome movies these days. His Training & Martial-Arts scenes are absolute breathtaking. Khiladi at his best. >Siddharth Malhotra as Monty is awesome. Just one thing kept dissing me is that he doesn't have a body like Tom Hardy has in Warrior but still manages to defeat by punching them once. You cannot digest this thing. >Jacquline as Jenny is supportive + a good wife and mother. >Jackie has done a good work too.

There are some emotional scenes in the first part but the second just races towards end with a good plot scene. So if you haven't watched Warrior, this is the best thing you'll see. And if you have watched, better ask Hollywood attention diggers what to do!!!
