Directors today sway in two extremes, complete blockbuster plot with zero story and intense moments which would put you to sleep. It is very hard to strike a balance in this competitive market. But this movie is a very bold in mixing the two concepts and giving a real treat to the eyes Granted, the title tells you its a sci-fi flick, that doesn't mean it is just convoluted and the audience has to immerse to understand. It has been explained in a very simple and clear manner, kudos for the director for that.

Actors: Needless to say, script is only as good as the actors and the acting skills of the leads do not disappoint you at all. Its a A-game performance from the trinity of Indian cinema (Hero, Heroine, Villain). From the premise till the end nobody lets you down. They have done justification to their roles and at the same time has not gone over the top. Again, its the director's conditioning that makes such magic.

Karunakaran, for the guy he has been portrayed does not drag the screenplay with stupid questions at all. In fact, the questions he ask will make you understand the movie much better, a perfect use of the second fiddle. Also the comedy relief in the movie was just the right duration. Too much of it would have been irritable and too less would have gone unnoticed. Just the right amount of flavor.

Movies such as this just end without dime or reason, here the director sets up the premise and ends it at the right pace, which is commendable. Does he solve all the mystery? yes. Is the reasons believable? Yes. so what more could you ask for in a sci-fi movie? I have watched the movie "Back to the future" many times and every time i wonder how did they get it so right, heres India's answer to Back To That Future. Just perfect use of Indian cinema sense without giving away the science and technology factor which is a pivotal factor in this movie The only downside of this movie was the songs, i felt it was not needed, but i agree its not a Hollywood movie to do that, but i just hope the director gives many more movies like this rather than just brag about this movie and vanishes from the cinema field.

A must-watch fun sci-fi movie which concludes with a simple message as well.

Reviews

he movie starts with an apt intro detailing the nature of Suyambulingam , a honest and hard working family man. But his peace is short lived after a very disturbing derogatory event . The Story then catches fire taking us through journey of trickery deception and deceit.

Kamals acting is top notch , makes us think whether there is anyone alive who is even remotely as talented .The entire cast delivers. Excellent work by Jeyamohan (Writer) gives us an even more intense and tight movie compared to the original version ! The movie hits the bulls eye in every major spot you would like a movie to - Story , Direction , Writing , Acting etc.

Expect a Fast paced thriller ride to experience with your family .

Storyline

The life of a young boy, Sathyadev, takes a destined route when his father becomes an incidental casualty in a scene of crime. The I.P.S. route takes away from him, a loving wife-to-be and renders a child motherless. It also gives him a prominent enemy, Victor, who makes a comeback into his life as the perpetrator when he is attempting to solve a kidnap case. And like the narrative tells at that very moment - 'All hell breaks loose' and culminates in a riotous climax.

Reviews

Usual Cop story, but different transformation from Thala in the movie was good. All four getup's are fit to thala. Beard look in police style and narrating voice shows why GVM chooses thala for the script.

Missing Thala's Screen Presence and Mass punch, but all covered by Class Cinematography by Dan and Edits by Anthony. Trisha is gorgeous ever scene in any other movie.

Arun Vijay gave his best level performance in this movie and others like Anuska, vivek did their roles wonderfully.

BGM Harris sir not met the expectation, but managed in the songs. Malai Varpoghuthe - Song Repeated in my playlist ( Karthik Voice awesome) Unnakena venum sollu - show the love between father and daughter.

Crest-fallen, she decides to redeem herself after being motivated by nears and dears.

Reviews

In the world where movie is commercialised, this movies moves to go-getter feminist attitude genre and does a good job in it. If you like Jyothika in Mozhi then read no further, you will love this movie. From the premise, taking acquisition for her husband, to cliché of sacrificing her career for her family the movie tells you one thing and one thing only. JO, audience she is the only soul who you will root for in the next 2 hours and that's it.

And she has done a exceptional job, you can see her maturity in acting skills as she does every movie and i think this movie is just for that demographic who wants to see on her theaters once again. I respect her for her commitment This movie just sounds like a bio-pic and you would want to see how she surpasses all those obstacles and emerge victorious. Set aside that fact, the other characters have done a good job as well. Yes, they don't have much of screen space but in the scenes they come in, they have been used really cleverly.

Rahman, this guy was really good, he was asked to be a male oppressive douche bag and he is exactly that, very believable. Granted, he has that from his general appearance, still he doesn't act over the top, and still makes you hate the character more so that you want to root for our lead, Jo.

I wonder, for a kid who idiolises her mom, the director has not given the right dialogues for the kid in the movie. I mean Mithila had put her mom on the map, so she should have been given a more lovable role, but she is as equally as hateable as her dad, but since she is a kid gets that concession.

Jayaprakash and Nassar does a guest appearance which is not required, i just wish such highly competent actors does a more substantial role and Delhi Ganesh has been grossly underplayed. Until the interval the movie was giving us bread crumbs in all different directions and after interval i believe the movie has just lost that grip and moved into a "overnight billionaire" attitude. That is where i did not feel involved and was not inline with the thinking of the movie. Everything she touches turns to gold, yes such things are possible in real life but the director should have paced it really well and given some hard working labour intensive scenes just to show Women are no less than Men. I find that missing, the premise did that, women working in different jobs, i loved to watch that, but later on when creating the bigger success picture, nothing is shown, no pain is depicted, and it just felt that for such a intriguing premise set, the movie rushed all in the end.

The movie such as this would want some comedy relief, which was again missing, some jokes fell really flat and was not worth the chuckle. Also i felt many scenes were shot with a different perspective and later shoehorned into the movie just because they shot, it did not contribute to the screenplay nor the story of the movie (e.g., The accident scene, marathon song).

The acting by everyone was good and they were the character you want them to be, a predictable script and the fact that the movie knew this made the run time really short, very good thinking! You can never look away in the scenes Jo is in, which is pretty much 98% of the movie and the social message though lacks depth is likable and kept me thinking if should think about fruits and vegetables the same way.

You would surely not be disappointed with the movie, but i guess this movie just tells you Jyothika still got it and do not write her down. Should watch with the family and will and should think about implementing some concepts.

Reviews

Arguably, the Best Romantic movie of 2015 and trend setting one too. The Big Guns Maniratnam, A.R.Rahman & P.C. Sreeram come together to deliver current love trend happening in India. The Lead Pair Dulqueer Salman & Nithya Menon third movie combo brings the blockbuster movie, Performance wise Nithya menon will outscore Dulqueer for sure, but both has given their best till date. Do not forget Prakash raj and Leela Samson role which is the back bone of the movie. Both of them pulled it with ease. When comes to P.C Sreeram, mind blowing visuals with minimum light and he is making sure to give your eyes all beautiful stuffs, it may be the characters in the movie or the surroundings. Mani Sir making deserves a big credit, always he is the man who is best in it. Editing is Crisp and neat. Music - A.R.Rahman sir, what to say mind- blowing and there is something fresh and to explore and to learn from this man for sure. BGM is good. Nithya Menon (Tara) will be the dream girl for many boys out there in Chennai and other cities of the Tamilnadu. Dulqueer Def a Dream boy for many girls. To Sum it up, watch it in Theaters before it get vanished and definitely must buy DVD movie in your collections. Hats off to the entire team.

Reviews

Firstly I'm not a person for remakes if one aims at directing the film exactly like the original - Whats the point of even remaking a film then. Take Oldboy for an instance, the English film had the same template of the original Korean remake which led to its share of critics who disowned the film. Let's come to EO which had terrific performance from Sid n Deepa BTW I thought was just a pretty face before I saw the film. Santosh Narayan is soon becoming the composer for the Indie movies which seem to attain the cult status just for just the score. Unlike most people think a film's screenplay being slow doesn't mean that its not good. Final word - Catch it.

Reviews

To the average viewer this might just be another really good movie. But others who catch the absolutely brilliant subtext throughout the movie will thoroughly enjoy it while at the same time introspect how we never stop to contemplate the miserable inequality in the country in our busy lives(even if we are aware of it and find it woeful, visuals always remind us how bad it really is). It will definitely change the outlook of a lot of people on equality, privilege and related things.

The movie follows the life of two slum kids as they aspire to eat from the new pizza shop opened next to their home(if you can call it one). The movie captures their journey as they try to make the money needed for the pizza and the eventual turn of events. The movie beautifully captures the glaring social inequality without you having to cry through it. The movie addresses a lot of issues too in the most subtle manner. There is no dearth for humor either which makes this movie a complete package though it is a bit saddening that we need to look for humor in this movie. And all the actors have done a brilliant job. Kudos to Iyshwarya Rajesh who has gone out of her comfort zone to give a brilliant performance. As for the title you'll figure it out yourself. This is a must watch movie.

I became a big fan of Irffan Khan after watching "Paan Singh Tomar" and got a perception that only Irfaan Khan's power performance can transform local heroes into reel life characters..

But, here is a new star .. "Nawaazudin". He has left Irfaan Khan way behind by his performance. The film is based on the real story of "Dasrath Ram manjhi" . I feel bad for the movie that it got leaked on the Internet.

Not only the lead actor, but the whole cast has done some exemplary work. Ketan Mehta's direction is edge-cutting.

Go spend some time and watch this movie to know our local hero " Mr. Maanjhi".

Reviews

Just like Bhashkor Banerjee doesn't like liars I wouldn't want to keep my readers in dark for long. I just loved the film. I loved each bit of this film from the core of my heart. It is the best (if there is any other) slice of life, road trip film to have come out of Bollywood in recent history. The film has all the ingredients to be a wonderful cinematic journey and it just doesn't fail. It has the star of the millennium leading from front. Many would also go to the extent of calling him the actor of the millennium as well and I would rather choose to agree than to disagree. It also has one of the best character actors that Bollywood has today. It also has someone by the name of Deepika Padukone who is no way close to the other two when it comes to acting but she is learning and she must get the credit for that. Not to miss out on the fact that she also manages to take your attention on the screen away from none other than Big B himself, courtesy her charm. She plays her part well enough to make the film a joyous journey. And over all this you have Shoojit Sircar, who has now started to show glimpses of brilliance through simplicity, a tag that has been associated with Basuda and Hrishida for long. He seems to have perfected the art of taking difficult subjects and turning them into supremely smooth slice of life films.

The film never gets distracted from its central subject which is Bhashkor Banerjee's stomach just like the Banerjee family never gets time to discuss anything else. The film is a joyride for the whole of 2 hours and 5 odd minutes. It makes you laugh out loud for phases lasting from few minutes to tens of minutes, only to slice new layers of sensitivity in the next few. Even though the span of the film is a few days, Sircar so skilfully is able to show us the deeper traits of all the characters that you begin to relate with each one of them. There are hardly any weaknesses in the film, but the strongest of strengths is the realness of the film. There are quite a few slice of life films that Bollywood has been able to create in last few years, none is as natural as this.

The film begins with a lot of fast edits, which are required when you have a real Bengali situation with real people trying to make multiple points unintentionally moving towards a chaotic confluence of non-ideas. The film could have easily made use of quite a few cinematography tricks to please you on the road trip, but why would it ever need to con the audience when it has such amazing character waiting to give you a free laugh and a cheerful tear. Instead, he uses Anupam Roy's brilliant voice and composition to blend with the screenplay. There are surely quite a few stereotypes that the film breaks and at the same time there are few it doesn't because some stereotypes just don't go.

At 70, Amitabh Bachchan is still at the top of his game. If you have ever been a big Bachchan Saab fan and have not got the best of him lately, this is going to be your dope. His comic timing will put all comedians of today put together to shame. The way he has played the part of an over anxious, ageing and well-meaning Bengali is only something that he could have done and no one else. Needless to say the reason why Irrfan Khan is who he is today is his natural dialogue delivery and he does it again. Every time he delivers a dialogue or even when he communicates in silence, it becomes a treat to watch.

As the story of the film moves ahead, the landscape shifts from the crowded Delhi roads to the 'cultured' streets of Calcutta. Each frame shot in the last 20 minutes of the film will rekindle your love for the city of joy and would want to make you go there again, not just for the aesthetics of the frame but because it speaks through the character of its wood and the structure of its soul. I would not want to spoil anything for you, but I can not not mention the scene where the 70 year old Bhashkor Banerjee rides a bicycle and wanders through Calcutta's core with the look of a child. You would want to watch these five minutes again and again.

Go watch Piku today, and don't just leave it at the theatres, bring it home through your heart…err….stomach.

Badlapur (2015)

After his family is killed during a bank robbery, a man tries to avenge their death.

Storyline

Raghu accept his apology but only on one condition he will going to tell his partner's name. So after 15 years will Raghu going to find the other suspect who destroyed his life? Will he punish him and take his 15 years old revenge?

Reviews

Although Nawazuddin steals the show with his maniacal-deceptive- cunning performance, BADLAPUR is definitely a game changer for Varun Dhawan. Director Sriram Raghvan tells us about an ordinary man who went on doing extraordinary cruelty to avenge his family's death. This story is dark and violent yet different from stereotype thrillers. First half is brilliant, you cannot take your eyes off the screen for a single moment. Second half doesn't live up-to the expectation, story telling could have been more tight and impactful. Varun Dhawan as Raghu has delivered a performance that will be remembered for years, you will get to see a completely different Varun. He has brilliantly portrayed his character and makes the audience feel for him. Nawaz, well every time he manages to surprise his audience. His character Laik has weak physique and cunning brain. Some of his interactions were mind-blowing and claps worthy. Both Varun and Nawaz have carried the film really well on their shoulders. Yaami Gautam, Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte and Vinay Pathak impress in their cameos. Sachin-jigar's music is good, thumbs up for 'jee karda'. Climax of the film is really impressive and i must say Sriram(after his poor Agent Vinod) is back with a bang. Oh yes, do not miss the beginning.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015)

The origin story of famous Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Saradindu Bandopadhyay.

Director: Dibakar Banerjee
Writers: Urmi Juvekar, Dibakar Banerjee, 1 more credit »
Stars: Sushant Singh Rajput, Anand Tiwari, Divya Menon | See full cast and crew »

Storyline

In a contemporary interpretation of war torn Calcutta during the 1940's, the film follows the first adventure of Byomkesh (Sushant Singh Rajput), fresh out of college, as he pits himself against an evil genius who is out to destroy the world. It's his wits against the most villainous arch criminal the world has seen, in a world of murder, international political intrigue and seduction.

Reviews

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is based on the popular sleuth character created by the Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Neeraj Kabi, Anand Tiwari, Swastika Mukherjee, Meiyang Chang, and Divya Menon in major roles. The movie is set in 1942-43 Calcutta (now Kolkata) with the carefully chosen World War II backdrop in an attempt to resonate the ever bustling tempo of the city of joy with the chaos and hysteria of war. But, did the attempt succeed? Well, we will certainly try to find an answer to this and many other pertinent questions during the course of this article. But, before we do that, let's first focus on the plot details and various other filmmaking aspects.

The title "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" in itself gives a lot away without leaving much to the imagination—irrespective of whether one is already acquainted with Byomkesh Bakshi or not. There's no denying that Byomkesh Bakshi is a cult figure but it's nowhere as famous as say a Sherlock Holmes or a James Bond. Hence the smartly chosen title "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" and not just "Byomkesh Bakshy!" or "Byomkesh!"! The problem with nondescript titles based on relatively lesser known fictional characters is that they defy reasonable marketing strategies to attract the mass audiences. By why change Bakshi to Bakshy? And why use an exclamation mark with the name? Well, according to Dibankar Banerjee, these playful little adjustments have been made to make it more adventurous than generic. Clearly, Banerjee doesn't merely seem interested in adapting the stories of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He has his eyes set on a bigger and a more challenging goal: to transform pulp into cinema while adding his own creative touches in the process and simultaneously ensuring that the spirit of the source material remains intact.

"Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" is targeted towards a new audience and is bound to disappoint the purists (they can still find solace in the 1993 Television series telecasted on Doordarshan). However, Byomkesh Bakshi enthusiasts can still enjoy the film if they choose to approach it with an open mind. Banerjee seems to have a penchant for making dark films like "Shanghai" and "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!". Made in the tradition of Hollywood whodunits, "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" is a richly textured detective story with a multilayered narrative. And while Dibankar may refuse to acknowledge it, the film noir influence just cannot be overlooked and is not limited to the presence of femme fatales and private eyes.

It's never a cinch to recreate a certain epoch in history and the fact that Banerjee and team meticulously reconstructed the 1940s Calcutta not only speak volumes about their commitment but actually help orchestrate an enchanting mise-en-scène that adds great detail to a sprawling period piece like "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" Add to this a thick plot, actors who can act with conviction, some brilliantly crafted dialogue, thrash metal music, Leone's signature camera movements, Welles' characteristic use of shadows and silhouettes, and shades of Tarantino-esque violence. Voila! We have crafted a palpable atmosphere that will hold the viewer in a vice- like grip until the end credits began to roll.

Banerjee's film is not original by any stretch of imagination, for he has borrowed ideas from various other filmmakers. But, there is no shame in borrowing ideas as long as one can concoct them into something unique. One of the greatest merits of the film is that it brilliantly serves the purpose of a suspense thriller. Some viewers may complain that the film is a bit predictable at times but the truth is that it keeps the viewer guessing throughout—the whole truth and the real motives of the various characters aren't revealed until the very end. There is a subtle difference between suspense and mystery and "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" for the most part falls in the former category (yes, there is mystery but the suspense element is stronger). So, there's no denying that Banerjee and team do succeed in their endeavor!

Overall, "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" can best be described as a marriage of commercial and experimental filmmaking. It is entertainment galore but not at the expense of creative freedom. In the context of contemporary Hindi cinema, "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" is nothing short of a monumental achievement. And those who think that Hindi cinema is not good enough to make great suspense thrillers anymore (Of course, the great Vijay Anand was the pioneer of the genre in Hindi cinema) certainly need to watch this film. Dibakar Banerjee needs to be congratulated for eliciting worthy performances from his entire cast of actors. Sushant Singh Rajput seems to have finally got the big break that he has been waiting for. Again his portrayal of Bandyopadhyay's sleuth may not satisfy the purists but nonetheless he manages to make his mark. Amidst a series of memorable performances, it's Neeraj Kabi's portrayal of Dr. Guha that stands first among equals. Another performance that deserves a special mention is that Swastika Mukherjee as Anguri Devi. The movie has some pacing issues and it occasionally tries to purposefully misdirect the viewer but despite the flaws it proves to be quite an enthralling experience. While the movie is bound to disappoint the hardcore Byomkesh Bakshi enthusiasts, it has all the elements to satisfy the masses and the classes alike. If the movie does well at the box office (and it most certainly will), a sequel may be just around the corner . Highly recommended!

Gabbar is Back (2015)

A grief-stricken man takes the law into his own hands when he begins to kidnap and murder corrupt public servants.

Director: Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi
Writers: A.R. Murugadoss (story), Rajat Arora (additional screenplay), 1 more credit »
Stars: Akshay Kumar, Shruti K. Haasan, Sunil Grover | See full cast and crew »

Storyline

Gabbar Singh Rajput (Akshay Kumar) creates his own vigilante military network called the Anti-Corruption Force (ACF) that eliminates the most corrupt individuals, from all walks of life, in a systematic manner. As pressure builds on Police and Government to track down the man who masterminds these killings, Balbir Singh (Sonu Sood) is specially summoned to head the task. He is aided by Suryam (Prakash Raj) who, though being just a constable in the mammoth Police force, is compelled by his instincts to see through the underlying design.

Reviews

Gabbar is Back is a common man's fight against corruption. The movie justifies its name as Gabbar has been the biggest villain in Indian Cinema history. But this time Akshay Kumar adopt this name to fear the corrupts. He starts his own mission to destroy them and his way of doing so is brutal.

Movie is a bit slow in parts especially in first half but it doesn't boar you to core. We feel convinced with the proceedings and can actually feel the anger against the protagonist. This is what makes this movie different from other routine mass entertainers that audience get connected to the plot. Second half is solid with some really action packed sequences. Climax is ample and we feel convinced while coming out of the theater. There are minuses in the movie as every movie has but they don't irritate you. Slow pace and loud BGM are two drawbacks.

Akshay Kumar again plays the lead role quite brilliantly and after Baby , he has given another commendable job. His dialog delivery is just rocking. Action is always a plus in his movies. Shruti Haasan is cute and does her part good. The villain played by Suman is convincing. Sunil aka Gutthi is a bonus as Police officer. Kareena looks stunning in cameo while Chitrangadha is ravishing in item number.

Direction by Krish is good. Story and Dialogues are apt and support the movie a lot. Editing could've been better. Music is average with loud BGM. Cinematography is good. Action is OTT but looks good played by Akshay.

Overall, GIB is a convincing movie with a storyline that would connect audience and that's where it hits bulls' eye. It would be loved by one and all as it is a true entertainer. Go for it because there are very few no Nonsense masala movies made in Bollywood and GIB is one of them. Enjoy guys!

Director Mr. Anand L. Rai possesses very good flair for romantic comedy. His work is simply fantastic. He never let anyone go overboard. Approach towards scenes is very novel. Writer Himanshu Sharma has delivered again an entertaining film with balance dose of emotions. He has an ascending graph in his career. Usually its very difficult to carry a sequel but he has done with ease and with complete justification to its first part. Actually, it is ahead of its predecessor. Story line crosses beautifully with the first part. Good example of it is its interval, which clearly shows that it is integral part of its first one. Interval is humorous with drama. Screenplay holds your interest aptly. Dialogues are real and hard core entertaining. Even opening credits promise you that you are going to be entertained and film succeeds in it in balanced way. This film proves that if Director, writer and actors have clear cut understanding of characters then entertainment has to be there. This film pops up some messages too, which are soft but make you to think, i.e about women empowerment in Datto (Kusum) family. Climax is little stretched but again its entertain you and make you emotional too. This film is supported by very good performance. Hats off to Kangana Ranaut. She deserves standing ovation. You have to remind yourself that she is portraying two characters otherwise soon she will take you under her spell of performance that you have to forget that actually there is a single actor, performing double role. She is terrific. Again brilliant performance by Deepak Dobrial as Puppy. His expressions are just amazing. You have to laugh with just his body language and expressions. He is excellent. R. Madhvan is very good. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub as Lawyer Chintu is impressive. Swara Bhaskar as Payal is fine. Rajesh Sharma is very good. Jimmy Shergill is good. Music is peppy and supports the film well. Even Background score is very good.

Reviews

3 years of sheer hard-work of many people who have worked their hearts out for this Visual Wonder has paid off well? Not exactly though, since the answer is simple and straight, you just have to wait for the 'Conclusion' till 2016 and that would decide the fate of this franchise on a whole. The story is paced slowly in the first half giving way and screen space to our Mother Nature's beauty and CGI's magic and one might find it a little too draggy if one considers 'Baahubali' to solely be a hero and since that's not possible, Shivudu has a love life and heroic nature and scenes of his own.Abrupt cuts and unconvincing CGI at certain places in first half are the only flaws with the whole film. Coming to the second half, one is told what he'd expect to be told, as the trailer tells the same. War sequences are really well shot and makes it hard to believe that they were actually made by Indians! One has to just bow down to Srinivas Mohan and his team for excellent CGI and Senthil Kumar for superb visuals. Our captain gives us a bang, as his trademark style known as 'Interval Bang' only at the end this time because technically this movies' end is the interval for the 2 parts taken as a whole. Art work in this Epic is just out of the world, kudos to Sabu Cyril sir and thousands of technicians who worked on this aspect.BGM is soothing for the first half which is apt for what we get on screen and the second half war episodes get the best of the lot BGMs to elevate the scenes. Songs are places really well except for 'Manohari' song.Dolby Atmos effect is an added attraction and I highly recommend people to watch this flick in theatres with this specific sound system, it will surely remain as a great experience for you. The sound effects are haunting, pleasing and give you goosebumps at the same time. Anushka had an extended cameo but did perform commendably well, special applause to her expressions. Special mention to Ramya Krishna madame, she was at her best! Katappa will blow your mind with his characteristics and Sathya Raj Sir does 100% justice to it. Though Prabhas and Rana Daggubati did well only their attitude in their respective roles stands out as the best because more of them is yet to come in the sequel. All you need to do is to watch the movie as it comes because expectations lead to disappointment. If you miss this movie, you've just lost a once in life-time 'Indian' movie experience on a big screen.

Reviews

Despite being a Salman fan I was not too impressed with some of his recent flicks which in my humble opinion lacked freshness or had mindless direction, so when a family member bought tickets for this movie I didn't go in with high expectations. But to you dear reader I'll say GO WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS! It will not disappoint!

And more importantly go with your heart - that is all you need for this 2.5 hours long film to become one of the best you've seen in years. It's just one of those movies with such heart-tugging moments and the highlight - the bond between Pawan (Salman) and Shahida (Harshali) - which is such a delight to see that you forget all about plot, logic, direction - not to say that the movie lacks that. The perfection in execution is definitely there, especially in the second-half. I watched it in the AVX theatre with at least 500 others and from the sound of it at least 75% of them regardless of age or gender were crying from the intermission onwards - sometimes because it was sad and other times because the screenplay was just so pure and unfiltered that it just made these happy tears bubble up inside of you.

There is a certain level of comedy throughout and definitely some deep witty one-liners. My favourite was from Nawazuddin Sidduiqi (who played his role to perfection) who pointing at the current state of the media and their polarization of India and Pakistan proclaimed that "Hatred sells. Mohabbat doesn't."

The movie has depth, a message, and the cuteness overload that is Harshali Malhotra. It also has a relationship and emotions so simple yet so extraordinary that they make a hero out of a common man.

BABY REVIEW- An epic thriller which deserves to be in Hollywood but Neeraj Pandey made it in Bollywood and raise Bollywood standard higher.i watched it with very high expectation and film completed all my expectation.last 30-35 Min's were inspired by Hollywood Oscar winner flick Argo.i am 90% satisfied with the movie and 10% disappointed because last scenes in Argo of interrogation on airport were nail-biting but Baby badly missed those scenes.performance wise Akshay Kumar proved that why he is my favorite after Srk and why he is the best for this role.if there would be an award for best actor in thriller category then he deserves it.remaining star cast were superb.Neeraj Pandey proves that he is king of thriller movies.another masterpiece after A Wednesday and Special 26.he proves why should we watch his movies with high expectations.i could have given 9 stars to the movie but as i already said climax were 10% disappointing.if Neeraj would have copied Argo climax then Baby would have been out of the world movie..so a must watch movie for all.here we have the 1st quality movie of 2015.

This is actually a good movie to watch when your just alone and want to see something by yourself............................................. I see a lot of reviews on this movie talking bad about it .. Some say it ruined a date or wasn't entertaining, that makes me believe those comments come from people who always expect a movie to have nudes and sexy scenes to help them get laid or from kids who just like cool Michael Bay explosions.............................................. This is a slow paced movie and its just what it was intended to be, like for example "sin city" in movies like that you cant expect total realism, there's some art in it. its not great but not bad too...... the end.

Absolutely Anything (2015) Full Movie Download

A group of eccentric aliens confer a human being with the power to do absolutely anything, as an experiment.

Director: Terry Jones
Writers: Gavin Scott (screenplay), Terry Jones
Stars: Kate Beckinsale, Simon Pegg, Robin Williams | See full cast and crew »

Storyline

When some aliens, who travel from planet to planet to see what kind of species inhabit them, come to Earth. And if they are, according to their standards, decent, they are welcomed to be their friend. And if not the planet is destroyed. To find out they choose one inhabitant and give that person the power to do whatever he/she wants. And they choose Neil Clarke, a teacher who teaches the special kids. He is constantly being berated by the headmaster and is attracted to his neighbor, Catherine but doesn't have the guts to approach her. But now he can do anything he wants but has to be careful.

Reviews

Absolutely Anything centers an idea about what happens if someone gets the ability of granting absolutely anything he wishes, which happens to be a test from a group of aliens about humanity's knowledge between good and evil. It's a fun little concept that might lead into sophistication, but the movie falls short by focusing on a rather conventional story arc for its main character. It may be having fun with the concept, but it's mostly just throwaway gags until it reaches to an unnecessarily annoying climax. It's entertaining and funny at first, but most of it just not worth investing.

The movie only comes to life whenever Neil is playing with his new found powers, because the rest of the character's background is just the same nice guy who doesn't get much of the luck he wanted. It's clearly not fresh, but with this idea, it could represent how an ordinary guy could make good use of this amazing ability. It doesn't necessarily have to be some low-key superhero, it's basically just trying to make his life cycle seem easier, but when the film demands to push the comedy to a different level, it's not bad enough, though it just doesn't leading anywhere until it reveals a villain to put the protagonist down and do some cartoony antics. There's nothing wrong with being over-the-top with its climax, but the environment is just not that appealing. It's just a collection of clichés and an obnoxious villain.

Though, the movie does make Neil use his powers for something that would benefit anyone else than his own pleasure, and it does represent some clever humor about the consequences of trying to solve the world's biggest problems that instantly. But this basically happens when he is finally giving up. The real missed opportunity here is the theme of how worthy a regular might have been for this choice, he does finally get aware about how absolute power could drive someone mad than just oppressed, but the movie doesn't get to explore that since it's too busy fooling around every once in a while. We could just assume that the aliens made a wrong random choice; but in this case, what's the point of his focus? He learned a lesson, but his aim is still not that interesting.

The acting is at least admirable; Simon Pegg is without a doubt charming for this role and even the shortcomings of this character would be outshined by this performance. Kate Beckinsale does fine in her role, even she isn't given enough reason to like. Rob Riggle does his Rob Riggle thing. At the voice cast; the Mighty Python crew does brought delight behind the aliens. And the late Robin Williams brings earnestness to a dog who is actually profane than he sounds.

Absolutely Anything does have the energy and mild imagination for its own idea, but there is nothing novel about the characters and the story for this supposedly interesting premise. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of craziness that aren't given enough inspired use for it. The performances did try to make it at least charming, but eventually there isn't much to deliver. There is nothing remarkable earned throughout that journey in the end, therefore it's just a forgettable set of goofiness.

Reviews

While many films use the device of a "real time" narrative for effect (ie, where the viewer is given the sense that he/she is a participant in real time in the story) very few films run the device for the full length.

For example, the Bourne films went into real time when the main character was on screen, but otherwise maintained a traditional narrative. Examples of standout real-time films would include Tom Cruise (amazing) in COLLATERAL; Dennis Weaver in DUEL; and the Canadian sci-fi epic, CUBE.

So now that you know first-rate films CAN potentially be made using the technique, the writer/director of this film (to be kind) did not set his sights quite that high.

Overall, it is not a bad film, it is incredibly engaging given how little is actually going on. However, while all films require a suspension of disbelief, the overall problem with COP CAR is that the two lead characters, boys of about ten years of age, are written as the dumbest children ever to appear in a feature film.

Seriously. In an age where even the Disney channel attributes 'tude, street cred, smarts and fast moves to 7 year olds (ask your child if you don't believe me) these two characters as written are so far removed from coherent thought that the audience starts to wonder if they escaped from "special class." To use the term "pig stupid" for these kids effectively slanders the pig.

Bacon is excellent. Would like to see more of him in features.

Jonah Hill plays Michael Finkel, a recently terminated New York Times journalist who's struggling for work after a story gone wrong. One day, he receives a phone call from a man regarding an FBI Most Wanted individual named Christian Longo, who's been captured and claimed to be living as Finkel. Longo and Finkel meet and form a potentially marriage shattering bond while Longo is in prison awaiting his trial. Finkel exchanges journalism tips for the real events behind Longo's alleged heinous acts of murdering his family. Through the twists and turns in the movie, only at the end will Finkel uncover the True Story.

Reviews

Saw True Story (film) starring Jonah Hill, James Franco, and Felicity Jones at Regal Cinemas last night! The film is based on actual events. It was very unusual, yet interesting and visually stimulating to see both Jonah and James playing roles so out of their ordinary type. Hill portrays Michael Finkel, The New York Times journalist who is subsequently terminated by the paper after being accused of incomplete research and creating a composite character, a boy named Youssouf Male while covering a story in an article about Ivory Coast Cocoa Plantations.

After being let go by the Times, Finkel (Hill) struggles to find journalistic job opportunities until one day he receives a mysterious phone call from a man regarding an FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation Most Wanted individual named Christian Longo, portrayed by Franco, who is wanted for murdering his entire family and is eventually captured in México while claiming to be living as Finkel. Finkel decides this is an opportunity story of a life time, so he meets with Longo trying to figure out why his now tarnished journalistic name was used by this accused murderer.

Finkel agrees to share his journalistic expertise with Longo in exchange for information regarding the murders for his Murder Memoir which tells a "True Story" regarding the events portrayed in the film. While in Newport, Oregon County Jail awaiting trial, Longo corresponds with Finkel via U.S. Mail, sending him written clues which appear to be confusing and misleading about his family life, yet enough information to put the pieces of the puzzle together and compile a Murder Memoir. Finkel attends the trial and at the end he uncovers the "True Story."

The film has several twists and turns which will keep you interested. It was cool to see both Hill and Franco play roles no one would ever think they would take on. Both actors handled this "True Story" film brilliantly! Not a must see, but definitely worth seeing if you want to experience these veteran actor Academy Award Nominees in diverse roles. My cinema score is 7/10! ‪#‎maverickradio‬™

Reviews

Do not watch this film on a full bladder. You will wet yourself laughing. Believe me. I know. Witherspoon and Vergara are, appallingly, funny together. It doesn't much matter what's happening with the plot. Everything they do is funny. It is a grand farce driven by deliriously 'over the top' characterisations from both of these divine comediennes. The absurd becomes the sublime with this fortunate pairing.

In their early days at the Hal Roach studio in the mid 1920s', Laurel and Hardy would gather up director Leo McCarey, the great Scottish actor, Jimmy Finlayson as their usual foil, a skeleton crew and would head out onto the streets of Culver City to make a movie. With no script and armed with only a concept like Big Businesses' trying to sell a Christmas trees door to door in July. They just went out and improvised and had fun; lots and lots of fun. This movie has the same mad, inventive spontaneity as the classics. It must have caught our worthy but over cautious critics off guard. So desperately do they want to be taken seriously that they are prone to dismiss fun for it's own priceless sake lest they be on the outside of movie critic hipster land looking in with no one that 'matters' looking back. Kudos to Stephanie Zacharek for getting it right.

A stoner - who is in fact a government agent - is marked as a liability and targeted for extermination. But he's too well-trained and too high for them to handle.

Reviews

When it comes to blending action with comedy, some films hit the mark (Lethal Weapon & Rush Hour) and others, don't (Paul Blart) but when you combine action/suspense with stoner comedy, then what leads is one of the most fun films you'll see this summer.

Mike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg) is an everyday small-town stoner, who works a bland job at a market, with the goal of marrying his girlfriend, Phoebe (Kirsten Stewart) but what he doesn't know, is that he's actually an experiment conducted by a CIA agent named Victoria Lasseter (Connie Britton) and that the CIA has put out a hit on him. With lots of time and money invested in Howell, Lasseter goes out to his little town and "activates" him, turning him into a stone-cold killer. But while he's the perfect killer, he's also a sweet guy who just wants to be with his girlfriend.

First off, I want to say that this flick was funny as hell and chocked full of good action. I had a good time watching it and I was rooting for Mike all the way. But while this film is awesome, I have some complaints but i'll get to them after the pros.

Jesse Eisenberg nails the role of stoner perfectly. He's a chilled out lovable guy who just wants to be with his girlfriend and a joint of marijuana. You want to climb into the screen and smoke a fat one with him. and you want to watch his back when he's surrounded by 6 assassins...not that he'd need you.

Kirsten Stewart might be known best for her role in Twilight and of course we all know how much those stories mean to single women who spend a lot of time writing fanfictions inspired from a Danielle Steel paperback, but here, she's actually not that bad. She needs to do more comedy cause she works well as the "straight man" or woman in this case. Although she might be typecast for romance films, maybe someone like Ellen Page or Kaya Scodelario would've been a better Phoebe, but hey, it's Kirsten Stewart. can't change it now.

Connie Britton fits her role well too. It's almost like watching Colonel Trautman with Rambo from First blood, assuming Mike Howell is John Rambo.

OK, now the complaints. first, the obvious. The shaky camera....Hollywood, get it through your thick dumb skulls; We HATE shaky cameras during fight scenes. It doesn't make the scene more exciting or interactive, it just makes the fighting hard to see. Enough already!

John Leguizamo. The guy is awesome, one of my personal favorite actors and half the reason I came to see this movie. And they gave him the persona of a wigga. Really? This guy was Benny Blanco from the Bronx and Luigi Mario...OK, maybe that wasn't his shining role as Luigi but he should've at least gotten more screen time.

Overall, I totally recommend this film, but maybe you should get baked before going to see it. Or at least get baked for the ending.

9/10
